The Ongoing Disaster

Angels lose again, 8-4 vs the Dodgers. I haven't blogged nearly as much as I'd planned when I started this thing, and the Angels aren't giving me any reason to get back into it.

Jason Bulger was lights out in SLC, his first appearance for the Angels saw him give up 3 runs while walking 3 and not being able to get out of 1 inning. The good news is Edgardo Alfonzo is gone. He had no purpose on the team at all.

Dallas McPherson went deep, that's good. He should be playing every day from here on out. Lets not go into 2007 wondering if McPherson can be a useful MLB player or not. Lets answer the question with a yes or no this year, and if its a no, then we can get a new 3B in the offseason.

The farm system has taken some hits this year too. I ran MLE's today, and with his slump, Brandon Wood has an MLE batting average of .197. He's still young, and can certainly turn this around, but he's got a lot of work to do.

The Angels aren't buried yet, a month of good baseball could put them back into first. The problems are:

1) This team doesn't look capable of playing good baseball

2) The A's will probably win 41 out of 44, or some stupid mid season streak like they do every year. Last year that streak allowed them to temporarily catch the Angels. A streak like that this year would bury them.
