Projected Standings: NL West
I've saved this one for last since the Dodgers are the favorites to eventually sign Manny Ramirez, and the Giants are the only other team mentioned as a possible fit. Ramirez once again could easily be the difference maker in a mediocre division where the spread in talent from top to bottom is not that great. As of today, after the Dodgers sign Orlando Hudson:
Dodgers 82-80
Padres 80-82
Arizona 79-83
Rockies 78-84
Giants 77-85
All 5 teams have a shot in 2009, but if the Dodgers reach an agreement with Ramirez it will transform them from slight favorites to clear favorites. If Manny is a Dodger, add 4 wins to their total, taking one off every other team in the division.

Some positions should be obvious as to who the starter is. For the ones that aren't I have Frandsen at 2B, Phelps at 1B, and Sandoval at 3rd. Schierholtz would not be a bad option at 1st. I would worry that they give too much time to Aurilia and Uribe, but I have those two projected as backups.
Again with the anonymous posts. Frickin' idiots. There's one win between each of the 4 bottom teams, and as Rally says, "All 5 teams have a shot in 2009." It's pretty clear this division is tight.
I'm not saying Rally is always right or that I agree with everything he says, but give the guy a break. It's a prediction. It's for fun. Though, if memory serves, Rally was one of the few projecting a Tampa surprise last season.

Finally some sense in Padres projections. 50 extra innings of Peavy, a healthy CY, someone who isn't an automatic out at shortstop, and obvious progressions for Headley, Gonzalez, and Kouz have to be the reason for the 80 win projection. JW Chone, but what do you have as the projected back-half of the rotation?
